市氣象台2021年03月15日07時25分升級發佈沙塵暴黃色預警（yellow alert）信號：目前本市已出現明顯沙塵天氣，預計當前至15日中午，大部分地區能見度（visibility）小於1000m。
黃色預警四級天氣警報系統（four-tier weather alert system ）中的第二低級別（the second-lowest level），從最嚴重級別（the most severe level）到最低級別依次為紅色、橙色、黃色和藍色。
截至今天（3月15日）上午9時，全市空氣質量均已達到嚴重污染（heavy pollution）水平，城六區（six major urban districts）PM10濃度最高，突破8000微克/立方米（micrograms per cubic meter）。
北京市公安局公安交通管理局提示，駕駛員應密切關注路況，減速慢行（drive slowly）；北京市教育委員會官方微博而後指出，請各區教委、直屬學校、中等職業學校及校外教育機構（educational institutions）暫停户外活動（suspend outdoor activities）並做好健康防護。
北方地區沙塵遙感圖（remote sensing images of dust in northern China）顯示：14日晚間源起於蒙古國南部的沙塵隨氣流逐步南下（gradually traveled south with the airflow），凌晨3時起自北向南（from north to south）影響北京市。
沙塵暴（sandstorm）將持續到今天下午。
